QBUTCHER IN THE NEWS David Harrison celebrates success at the annual Smithfield awards The awards are among the most highly coveted in the meat industry and a true indication of excellence. More than 500 products from Q members throughout the UK were assessed by an independent panel of experts. Scotch Beef Ltd Butchers won three gold, four silver and one bronze award. The Gold awards were won for their Gloucester Old Spot, Old English Sausage, Pork with Chive Sausage and their Pork and Apple Burger. At a special lunch and awards ceremony in Butchers Hall, London, (November 10), TV chef and restaurateur Brian Turner presented the firm’s David Harrison with the awards. He said: "We are absolutely delighted to receive these awards. It is fantastic for our business as the Smithfield Awards are envied throughout the trade, adding value and prestige to any product fortunate enough to win. As a Q member we regard ourselves as among the best butchers in Britain and this proves we have the products to match." The award winning products are all on sale at the shop at The Ridgeway in Westcliff-on-Sea.

Smithfield Awards Jan 2006 We were very pleased and proud to announce the details of our success in the Smithfield Awards organised by the Guild of Q Butchers. The product evaluation took place last in November 2005 at the Thomas Danby College in Leeds, with the results being announced at the Butchers' Hall in London, Tuesday 17 January.
We achieved 2 Gold awards, one for the Gloucester Old Spot Sausages and one for the Pork Sausage with Chives. 3 Silver Awards, for our Traditional Pork Sausage, Venison Sausage and Venison Burger, and 2 Bronze Awards for our Scotch Beef Burger and Scotch Cooked Roast Beef. Chris and I travelled to London and had a splendid lunch that preceded the presentation. All in all it was a great result for us and justification for our insistence on quality. Smithfield Awards Jan 2005 We really did well at the Guild of Q Butcher Smithfield Awards in 2005. We received four Gold Awards, for Traditional Pork Sausage, Venison Sausage, Beef Burger and Festive Pork Roast and Silver Awards for Country Herb Pork Sausage, Pork Burger Cordon Bleu and Lamb Sausage with Redcurrant. The presentation was made by Ed Baines of BBC's Saturday Kitchen and Ready Steady Cook fame
